88 Sheeping Disorders (10'21), 2008
Speaker: Matthias Lühn

The 88 international classified Sleeping Disorders are taken as a basis to relax.
Acoustically, their meaning changes to a positive one until they have reached
their origin – sleep itself. Deriving from the method of sheep counting, the
88 Sleeping Disorders are being read to the listener in a calm comforting voice,
monotonously, until the speaker himself falls asleep.
The treatment of the allopathic classifications become a homeopathic (the use
of substances that cause similar effects) one, but remains artificial in itself.

I made this piece for the Exhibition ‘State Alpha, on the architecture of sleep’
at the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) Maastricht.
